Data Analysis & Visualization
Introduction to the foundations of data visualizations
Background
Teaching
For nearly a decade, Jessica has worked as a graphic designer. Currently, she works at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), one of the nation's leading environmental advocacy organizations. For the past three years, she has partnered with scientists, advocates, and lawyers to illustrate their work to a wide audience through data storytelling, illustration, design, and animation. She is passionate about using data and art to create positive social and environmental impact.
She has her MPS in Data Analysis and Visualization from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Jessica uses her Data Analysis and Visualization expertise to rehumanize data by telling stories that help us understand the world and how we live in it. Her Capstone Project, a resource for friends and family of people with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) was the winner. She freelances through Ana Handmade, a graphic design and illustration company.
She is an Assistant Professor of Data Analysis and Visualization at Queens College, CUNY in Queens, NY. Below are a list of classes along with links to the materials.
